Cabinet estimate example

Cabinet Painting Estimate Example

Cabinet estimates need a counting rule as well as a finish specification. Separate doors, drawer fronts, and fixed frames so your customer can see what is included without paying for the same surface twice.

Worked example: 12 doors and 6 drawer fronts

This fictional kitchen has 12 removable doors, 6 drawer fronts, and 48 sq ft of exposed fixed frames and end panels. Door prices cover both faces and edges; drawer-front prices cover both faces and edges. The fixed surface measurement excludes the removable pieces. Cabinet interiors, shelves, and the inside of drawer boxes are outside this scope.

Illustrative cabinet line items

These fictional USD rates are for arithmetic only, not market prices. The three finish lines include cleaning, preparation, primer, and two agreed finish coats with labor and materials. Removal and reinstallation are listed separately. There is no separate material allowance to double count. No discount or tax is calculated.

Define the finish and handover

Record the intended products, color, sheen, application method, and where removable pieces will be finished. Set expectations for kitchen access, drying or curing time according to the selected products, and when hardware can be reinstalled. Count and label the pieces during inspection so both the estimate and the final walkthrough use the same inventory.

Keep repairs and replacements explicit

This example assumes existing doors, hinges, and drawer fronts will be reused. It excludes new hardware, hinge conversion, carpentry, replacement panels, and undisclosed surface repairs. If the customer wants a different scope, describe and price it separately before proceeding.
